Street Outreach Services (SOS)

The Street Outreach Services Program meets the needs of at-risk and homeless young adults, ages 16-24, through street-based and drop-in services to assist them in securing safe, stable housing.

About SOS

Street Outreach Services (SOS) is a multifaceted program providing street-based and site-based outreach, case management, and need-specific services through its four unique programs located in the Drop-In Center. The Drop-In Center and community-based outreach serve as points of entry for all programs under the SOS umbrella.

The days/hours of operation for the Drop-In Center:

  • Monday: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

  • Tuesday: 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Wednesday: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Thursday: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Friday: By appointment only

Drop-In Center

  • Daytime shelter, hot meals, grocery and hygiene packs,  clothing, access to showers, laundry facilities, computer, e-mail, and phone.

  • SOS staff provide case management, educational groups and emotional support.

Rapid Re-Housing

  • Rapid Re-Housing provides short-term rental assistance and case management. The goals are to help young adults obtain housing quickly, increase self-sufficiency, and stay housed.

Bridges Program

  • The Bridges Program of Ohio provides direct services including housing support, case management and independent living skills to young adults who have aged out of foster care in Ohio.

  • Young adult participation in Bridges is voluntary, and young adults may apply to enroll (or re-enroll) in Bridges at any point before their 21st birthday.

Faith-Based Infant and Maternal Health Supports Program

  • Faith-Based Infant and Maternal Health Supports Program provides support to pregnant and parenting youth/young adults (up to 12 months postpartum) between the ages of 14-24 living in Summit County to address health inequities and improve infant and maternal health outcomes.

How can Street Outreach Services help me?

SOS provides the following services free of charge:

  • Access to food, clothing, daytime shelter, shower and laundry facilities

  • Case Management

  • Supportive educational and vocational services

  • Life Skills Development

  • Assistance in securing safe, stable housing

  • Crisis and trauma intervention

  • Transportation assistance

  • Linkage to community resources

  • Aftercare service

I was kicked out of home and have nowhere to go. How can you help me?

Our outreach staff can help connect you with resources in the community to find a safe place to stay as well as additional services to help with any other need that you may have.

I moved out and do not have enough money for food. Can you help me?

Yes, hot meals are provided six days a week at the Drop-In Center. Additionally, the SOS staff can provide you with food packs as well as provide referrals to additional food support in the community where you live.

Are there requirements to be a part of the program?

The main requirement is that we want the Drop-In Center to be a safe place for all of our young adults and staff. This includes being respectful of yourself and others while at the Drop-In Center. Additionally, no threats or acts of violence are tolerated.

Can you help me get an ID, birth certificate, and/or Social Security Card?

Yes, the SOS program can assist you in connecting with community resources to secure these necessary documents.  

Can I just show up to the Drop-In Center or do I need to make an appointment?

The Drop-In Center is open six days a week for drop-in services as well as appointments. Please see the schedule below:

  • Monday: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

  • Wednesday: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Is there a charge to do laundry at the Drop-In Center?

No, there is no charge to do your laundry at the Drop-In Center.

Can you help with transportation to my job?

SOS staff can help connect young adults with community resources that can assist in transportation.

The Shelter Home Program provides long-term residential care for boys, ages 11-18.

The Respite Care Program provides planned periods of respite for up to four days to strengthen and keep families together.

Outpatient Counseling provides high quality, individualized, mental health services to individuals, families, and couples.
